BESPOKE SUN HOODS ELEVATE EUMUNDI HOME
HEKA HOODS
Design Meets Craftsmanship: Bespoke Sun Hoods Elevate Eumundi Home.
In the charming town of Eumundi, Queensland, this home stands as a testament to design ingenuity and collaborative craftsmanship. Heka Hoods supported Meadan Homes's vision, blending design excellence with technical precision to overcome unique challenges and create a truly exceptional home.
Integrating Heka Hoods’ Design Expertise
The project required marrying an existing double-storey shed and garage with a newly constructed dwelling. "The new house was designed with similar details to the shed, creating a cohesive look," the Meadan Homes builder shares.
Heka Hoods played a pivotal role in achieving this harmony. Initially selected to add eaves to the shed windows, our bracket-less awning system became a key design feature across the property.
The collaboration centered on the bespoke design of the window hoods, which were carefully crafted to mirror the aesthetic of the cantilevered rooflines and parapets. The hoods featured a custom variation of inverted flanges, allowing them to integrate seamlessly with the roof’s design.
The installation process required creative problem-solving. "We used battens under the cladding to provide a cavity for the flanges and 4.5mm hardwood ply strips to pack out the framing," the builder explains. This attention to detail ensured a smooth installation, resulting in a beautiful finish.
Heka Hoods: Form Meets Function
Beyond their functional purpose, our modern window awnings, added a layer of aesthetic sophistication. Designed with downward returns, they create dramatic light play within the home’s interior spaces while shielding against harsh sunlight.
"When the sun hits them, the angled lines are quite dramatic and add a lovely light play to the house" remarks Meadan Homes.
A Showcase of Craftsmanship
The design and selection of Heka Hoods enabled a perfect match with the weathered steel finish of the rest of the house, elevating both functionality and style.
While the final result of both the windows and parapets is a standout feature of the house, the shiplap timber cladding has been deemed the project’s crowning achievement. "We chose a rich Corten steel colour to contrast with the black timber cladding."
Wrapping the entire exterior of the house, it required precision to ensure every line and corner aligned perfectly. From cavity doors built into walls to pitched ceilings with meticulously shaved cladding, the results are nothing short of extraordinary.
"The finished product, appearing effortless, is my biggest achievement," the builder proudly shares.
Looking Ahead
With the success this Eumundi build, Meadan Homes continues to push the boundaries of custom home building. Upcoming projects include high-end builds in Noosa Heads and Verrierdale, as well as an exciting in-house design in Aroona.
The project is a testament to the power of collaboration and innovative design. Through challenges and creative problem-solving, Meadan Homes have delivered a home that marries form and function, highlighting how Heka Hoods can transform exteriors.
